Redesigning YouTrip’s Homepage
To establish YouTrip as the travel wallet of choice, I redesigned their homepage to stand out from competitors.
Role
Visual Designer from research to design, as a mock design challenge
Duration
3-4 February 2023
Research
I researched YouTrip’s competitors to understand their services and features and identify YouTrip’s USPs.
Although Revolut and BigPay provide travel perks and discounts, they are not prominently displayed on the apps.
From my research, it became clear that YouTrip’s strength lies in travel, and their features are centered around that.
Design Audit
I reviewed YouTrip’s existing homepage, focusing on ease of use and accessibility.
Goals
With a clear understanding of YouTrip’s unique strengths, my goal was clear – to emphasize its travel app capabilities and double down on its success.
Travel is both aspirational (i.e. bucket lists, dream destinations) and inspirational (i.e. experiences, memories). I aimed to evoke those emotions while keeping functionality for YouTrip’s homepage.
Design Approach
To ensure the design would be intuitive and user-friendly, I reviewed the designs of YouTrip’s competitors and identified features to adopt.
While wireframing, I looked at apps from different industries to draw inspiration for my design and make it stand out from competitors.
The Redesign
The homepage has been given more breathing space, with a stunning background image that creates an immersive and evocative experience.
The image represents the country of the currency with the highest value in the user’s wallet.
Before
After
The navigation bar has been updated with more intuitive icons and labels for improved ease of use.
The “More” button was divided into “Profile” and “Settings” buttons and relocated to the top of the page to create more space.

After
A spending tracker has been added to enhance the experience of using YouTrip as a travel app.
The promotional cards (i.e. refer a friend, travel deals) have been redesigned with beautiful imagery to elevate their aesthetic appeal and reflect the visual theme.
